Good food, efficient service, and great waterfront views. Stopped here for lunch and enjoyed sharing a couple of dishes with friends. The appetizers (spring rolls, imperial egg rolls, etc.) were not that much different from some of the more “hole in the wall” Vietnamese restaurants where you can have them for 1/10 the price—but I think here the prices reflect the location. The entrees on the other hand, were across the board excellent and flavorful. Would recommend if you’re in area!
The first time I came to The Slanted Door, I wasn't too big of a fan. I came a second time, ordered new dishes, and had a much better experience. I ordered the pork ribs, vegetarian crispy imperial roll, and the cellophane noodles. These meals were all delicious. It is fairly pricey for the amount you get, but with the environment and service in mind, I think it was worth it.
The place was nice, in the ferry building with a nice outlook over the water. The food and drink were nice. Was here for a work a lunch which was good - the place was busy, but not too loud. If it weren't for the staff trying to turn the table over as soon as we finished eating it would have been near perfect.
We had brunch here on Labor Day, so we expected it to be pretty busy. It wasn’t crowded at all when we arrived at 11:00, yet service was very very slow and we didn’t even have our drinks until 20 minutes after we sat down. The food was really great though, and mostly made up for the service that remained slow throughout our entire meal. We tried and shared various things on the menu and everything was good, including the drinks.
This place is at the ferry building so it has an awesome view of the bay bridge! However the food is too overpriced, for how it tastes, it can be found at another restaurant for way less. It’s upscale but service is not up to par, they’re very busy so waiters don’t really have time for every table. Be sure to make a reservation! My favorites from here: Singapore sling for drink, hamachi for appetizers. Hamachi was 4 pieces and it was $24 so it’s super pricey but very worth it. Everything else is just good, the imperial rolls are good but not worth the price, the cellophane noodles & green beans were very basic. My least has to be the chicken clay pot, it took more than an hour to come out and the flavors was way to sweet for my liking.
